Woohoo, we passed our first inspection! Being newbies, we were a little nervous. But the inspector agreed everything is solid and we can proceed! It’s so satisfying to be putting permanent things into the house rather than pulling debris out. Since the inspection, Dan has started on all the electrical – places boxes and outlets and running wire throughout.

Dan had a surprise guest this week. He was working in the basement when a snake popped his head out from a little hidey hole. And in Dan’s own words, he doesn’t do snakes – said his reaction was similar to the 7yo’s meltdown over a spider last week, but without tears. 🤣 I wanted to make the snake our unofficial mascot, but that was quickly vetoed, and now the house smells a bit like moth balls, which we’re using in an attempt to shoo the nope-rope away. Oh, the adventures!

Very important.
All the windows have been replaced and look awesome, we just added a new door, and kitchen cabinets are on order. The ugly duckling is starting to come to life after all.

We’re ready for siding, too, and have narrowed our choices to what’s in stock after two local hailstorms. 😉

I’m anxious to start contributing to the project by Buying All the Things, but so far, we’ve kept to just samples. Sigh. How boring.

Last but not least… here’s an update on our “smaller” project at home – Phase 1 is complete!
