After getting a thumb’s up on the plumbing and the electrical work, with directions to install just one extra circuit in the kitchen, we took a break from siding to start installing insulation. It was a tough choice with cooler temps, but this week’s rain helped keep us motivated.

All this insulation is a huge change from before, where only the front half of the house appeared to be somewhat insulated. That certainly explained the frozen and burst pipes included in the property disclosures! Now, the entire house will be updated and properly insulated, ensuring comfort for years to come.

We are adding finished space in the basement – laundry, a small living space, and a second bedroom with a half bath and walk-in closet. The entire house will be functional and livable! And did I mention that tile? 😉

Dan’s folks visited this weekend, mostly to see the grandkids before school starts next week. His dad made us this amazing vanity for the main bath. I couldn’t find anything that worked with the eclectic farmhouse / modern industrial design I’m going for, but this vanity fits the bill!

We should finish up the insulation and extra electrical work and be ready for the penultimate inspection by next week. Then full speed ahead to return to the siding work so the house doesn’t look half dressed.
